We are looking for a Data Scientist Undermining & Logistics Hubs for our client, the Democracy and Governance Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. In this role, you will work in a research team with fellow data scientists in a secure CBS analysis environment on in-depth analyses with unique microdata and external sources to reveal patterns of organised, undermining crime at logistics hubs. You translate the information needs of municipalities and other partners into sharp research questions, provide insights for dashboards and reports within Focus on Undermining and work closely with CBS and the Strategic Knowledge Centre against Undermining Crime, among others. In this way, you contribute directly to the resilience of public administration and the strengthening of our democratic constitutional state, from the heart of democracy in The Hague.

Work
What will you do?
- Working in a multidisciplinary research team on the theme of Visibility of Logistics Hubs within the programme Visibility of Undermining.
- Translate information needs of municipalities and other stakeholders into concrete research questions on (potential) undermining crime.
- Collect, structure and verify large data sets, including CBS microdata and external data sources, within a secure analysis environment.
- Apply statistical analysis and data science techniques to identify patterns and phenomena that may indicate money laundering and other forms of undermining at logistics hubs.
- Ensure quality assurance of analyses through checks, reviews and the four-eye principle, in coordination with CBS and other partners.
- Translate complex analyses into clear insights, visualisations and dashboards for Visibility into Undermining / Visibility into Logistic Nodes.
- Preparation of reports and presentations for stakeholders, fellow researchers, data analysts and (domain) experts.
- Intensive collaboration and coordination with the Product Owner, the Scrum Master at CBS and the Strategic Knowledge Centre against Subversive Crime (SKC).
- Contribute to the further development of methods, monitoring, reporting and the knowledge and learning network around administrative resilience against undermining.
Job requirements
- You have an academic working and thinking level.
- You have 5 years' working experience in data analysis/science.
- You have experience programming in R and/or Python.
- You have experience with agile working.
Wishes:
- You have knowledge and experience of data science and data analytics.
- You have experience in analysis of organised undermining crime.
- You have experience and/or affinity with the client's organisation.
